The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded in Paris, France in 1833. A small group of university students, led by Frederic Ozanam, sought a way to bear witness to Gospel values, develop their own spirituality, and relive the suffering of the needy around them. They recognized the responsibility of lay people for ministering to those in need through personal contact. The first U.S. Conference was founded in St. Louis, Missouri in 1845. 

Our patron is St. Vincent De Paul, the 17th-century French priest who not only ministered to the needy but also organized religious and lay women and men to develop this ministry.

The philosophy of the society is "No work of charity is foreign to the Society”. “Need, not creed” determines who is helped and how. A home visit with the family is made before assistance is given.

Funds come from the poor box, special collections, members at meetings, and donations from members of the parish. We provide clients with a list of other resources so they can supplement what we are able to provide.

For an opportunity to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally; for an opportunity to live the Gospel; and for an opportunity to make a difference in many lives.

What do we need?
People to help according to their schedules: to make calls, visit clients, determine needs, and provide assistance for the poor and the needy and money to continue this important ministry.

When and Where?

La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paúl fue fundada en París, Francia en 1833.
