The Sacrament of Baptism is the basis of our Christian life, the gateway to life in the Holy Spirit, and the door which allows us to experience the other sacraments of the church.

Through Baptism we are freed from original sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God.   In receiving the sacrament of Baptism, we become members of the Catholic Church and our parish family.

Requirements:

Must be St. Joseph registered members and active for at least 12 months at Mass to baptize.

Those wishing to sponsor (godparents) a baptism should request their confirmation certificate from the office of their parish where they were baptized.

The requirements for THE GODPARENTS are as follows:

• 18 years +
• Practicing Catholics in good standing in the church (not living together and being present at Mass each week).
• Have received the sacraments of baptism, the Eucharist and confirmation.

If requirements are met, the following certificates must be submitted to the St. Joseph parish office prior to scheduling the baptism on the calendar:

• Child's birth certificate.
• Catholic confirmation certificate of the godparents.
• Catholic marriage certificate of the couple – (if they are married).
• Verification/proof of baptismal seminar attended by parents and godparents
• If they are not registered members of St. Joseph, a letter from the pastor of their Catholic church stating that they are members in good standing and leading a life in harmony with the faith.

• English Baptism Seminar - One Saturday each Month (Upon request)
• Spanish Baptism Seminar - 3rd Saturday of the month

El Sacramento del Bautismo es la base de nuestra vida Cristiana, la puerta de entrada a la vida en el Espíritu Santo y la puerta que nos permite experimentar los demás sacramentos de la Iglesia.

A través del bautismo somos liberados del pecado original y renacemos como hijos e hijas de Dios. Al recibir el Sacramento del Bautismo, nos convertimos en miembros de la Iglesia Católica y de nuestra familia parroquial.

Requerimientos

Tienen que estar reqistrados y activos por lo menos 12 meses en San Jose para bautizar.

Aquellos que deseen patrocinar un bautismo deberán solicitar su acta de confirmación en la oficina de su parroquia donde se bautizaron. Los requisitos canónicos para LOS PADRINOS:

• 18 años +
• Católicos practicantes con buena reputación en la iglesia (no conviviendo y estar presente en misa cada semana).
• Haber recibido los sacramentos del bautismo, la eucaristía y la confirmación.

Si se cumplen los requisitos, los certificados requeridos deberán enviarse a la oficina de San Jose antes de programar el bautismo en el calendario:

• Acta de nacimiento del niño.
• Acta de confirmación católica de los padrinos
• Acta de matrimonio católica de la pareja – (si están casados.)
• Verificación/prueba del seminario de bautismo que asisteron para los padres y los padrinos
• Si no son miembros registrados de St. Joseph, una carta del pastor de su iglesia católica que indique que son miembros acreditados y que llevan una vida en armonía con la fe.

• Seminario Bautismal en inglés Un sábado de cada mes (a petición)
• Seminario Bautismal en español -el tercer sábado de cada mes
