This last week our country celebrated Independence Day.  We celebrate the gift of freedom, peace and the remembrance of those who fought for our independence.  Our Catholic faith embraces a biblical understanding of freedom.  We believe it is a gift from God that comes through our profession of Faith and Love of Jesus Christ.  Freedom is possible because Jesus offered His life for us on the cross.  Here is how Pope Francis describes it, "Christian freedom is a gift of God based on the truth of Jesus, who revealed the depth of God's love in His supreme sacrifice on the Cross.  Freedom is the way to true happiness."  We give thanks to God today for freedom and the power of His saving cross.  God bless you all, Fr.  La verdadera libertad está en Jesucristo

Esta última semana nuestro país celebró el Día de la Independencia. Celebramos el regalo de la libertad, la paz y el recuerdo de quienes lucharon por nuestra independencia. Nuestra fe católica abraza una comprensión bíblica de la libertad. Creemos que es un regalo de Dios que viene a través de nuestra profesión de Fe y Amor a Jesucristo. La libertad es posible porque Jesús ofreció su vida por nosotros en la cruz. Así lo describe el Papa Francisco: "La libertad cristiana es un don de Dios basado en la verdad de Jesús, quien reveló la profundidad del amor de Dios en Su sacrificio supremo en la Cruz. This weekend Archbishop Coakley ordained the newest priest for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, Fr. Stephen Jones. This week on Saturday at 10am, Fr. Jones was ordained at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral.  Fr. Jones has been studying for the priesthood in Rome, Italy.  He is excited to be home and able to serve the people of Oklahoma.  He will serve at St. Charles Borromeo parish in Oklahoma City.  Pray for Fr. Jones and his priesthood.  Pray daily for an increase in Vocations to the priesthood of Jesus Christ for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.

Around 30 of our high school youth will be attending the Lonestar Steubenville Youth Conference in Dallas this weekend.  We invite you to pray that Jesus will move their hearts and minds to a greater love and trust in Him. Daily Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Motivational Speakers, Sacramental Confession and the opportunity to encounter Jesus who is Love.  Your prayers and support of our youth is greatly appreciated.  Gods bless you all!

May God the Father send His blessing upon all the fathers of our lives and in this parish family.  It is a great gift from God to be a father who knows how to love, protect and guide his spouse and family to heaven.  Fathers give witness to the strength of God, but also of compassion and humility.  May the Lord bless our fathers and we thank them today for life and the blessing of their service to our families.  I want to give thanks to all spiritual fathers, especially our priests, who serve in the name of Jesus.  Pray for all our priests in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.

Jesus tells us that when we eat His Flesh and Drink His blood, we have eternal life. This truth of the Eucharist needs to be shared. When we turn to our Eucharistic Lord, He gives us a mission. The mission is to bring all souls to the Eucharist. Do you spend an hour with Jesus in adoration during the week?  It's time to make a commitment to this time with Jesus. Adoration is a privileged time with Jesus that prepares our souls for heaven and forms our hearts and minds to live the mission of Jesus. Bring Souls to Jesus in the Eucharist through your prayers and your words. Don't be afraid to be a good witness to others of your faith and love for Jesus.

Sunday Challenge: think of the person in your life who you will invite to join you at Mass. Pray for that person. Ask Jesus to help you. Jesus, we trust in you. Fr. Irwin

Jesús nos dice que cuando comemos Su Carne y bebemos Su sangre, tenemos vida eterna. Esta verdad de la Eucaristía debe ser compartida. Cuando acudimos a nuestro Señor Eucarístico, Él nos da una misión. La misión es llevar a todas las almas a la Eucaristía. ¿Pasas una hora con Jesús en adoración durante la semana? Es hora de comprometerte a pasar tiempo con Jesús. La adoración es un tiempo privilegiado con Jesús que prepara nuestras almas para el cielo y forma nuestros corazones y mentes para vivir la misión de Jesús. Lleva almas a Jesús en la Eucaristía a través de tus oraciones y tus palabras. No tengas miedo de ser un buen testimonio para los demás de tu fe y amor por Jesús.

The Eucharist is our life!  Come to Jesus in the Eucharist at the Mass, at Adoration, at every tabernacle in the world.  St. John Paul II taught us about the importance of the Eucharist in the life of the Church through is actions.  When ever he would visit a church in any country of the world, he would first go to the tabernacle and spend time in prayer.  He knew that Jesus had to be first and the only reason for his work as Pope and Universal Pastor of the Church.  At St. Joseph Parish, we gather around Jesus in the Eucharist.  Jesus is the center of our activity, our ministry and all our endeavors and plans.  We must turn to Jesus in the Eucharist.  This Sunday we will expose the Blessed Sacrament after mass for a few moments of prayer.  At the 10:30am and 1pm Masses we will process Jesus through our campus in prayer and adoration.  Jesus is Lord!  Jesus is the center of our lives!  Jesus comes to us as our food!  Jesus, we trust in you!

¡La Eucaristía es nuestra vida!   Vengan a Jesús en la Eucaristía en la Misa, en la Adoración, en cada tabernáculo del mundo.   San Juan Pablo II nos enseñó sobre la importancia de la Eucaristía en la vida de la Iglesia a través de sus acciones.   Cuando visitaba una iglesia en cualquier país del mundo, primero iba al tabernáculo y pasaba tiempo en oración.   Sabía que Jesús tenía que ser la primera y única razón de su labor como Papa y Pastor Universal de la Iglesia.   En la Parroquia San José, nos reunimos alrededor de Jesús en la Eucaristía.   Jesús es el centro de nuestra actividad, de nuestro ministerio y de todos nuestros esfuerzos y planes.   Debemos acudir a Jesús en la Eucaristía.   Este domingo expondremos el Santísimo Sacramento después de misa para unos momentos de oración.   En las misas de 10:30 am y 1 pm procesaremos a Jesús a través de nuestro campus en oración y adoración.   ¡Jesus es el Señor!   ¡Jesús es el centro de nuestras vidas!   ¡Jesús viene a nosotros como nuestro alimento!   ¡Jesús, confiamos en ti!

We welcome Archbishop Coakley this weekend to celebrate our 10:30 am mass and to bless our new columbariums at St. Joseph Cemetery.  I am so grateful to the many people of the parish who have donated to this project and we hope that God continues to bless us, show us His love and guide us according to His will.  I am grateful to Alicia Rios, our Cemetery Coordinator, for the excellent work she has done to make this new addition to our cemetery a success. 

Today we celebrate the revelation of God to the world as a Trinity of persons; The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  We celebrate the truth of God who loves us as Sons and Daughters.  As the Trinity exists in eternal love, so do we exist in love of God who guides us to our eternal reward. 

Holy Trinity, One in Unity, Holy God, Mighty God, God Immortal be adored!

 Santísima Trinidad

Damos la bienvenida al Arzobispo Coakley este fin de semana para celebrar nuestra misa de las 10:30 am y bendecir nuestros nuevos columbarios en el cementerio San José. Estoy muy agradecido con las muchas personas de la parroquia que han donado a este proyecto y esperamos que Dios continúe bendiciéndonos, mostrándonos Su amor y guiándonos según Su voluntad. Agradezco a Alicia Ríos, nuestra Coordinadora del Cementerio, por el excelente trabajo que ha realizado para que esta nueva incorporación a nuestro cementerio sea un éxito.

Hoy celebramos la revelación de Dios al mundo como Trinidad de personas; El Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo. Celebramos la verdad de Dios que nos ama como Hijos e Hijas. Así como la Trinidad existe en el amor eterno, así existimos nosotros en el amor de Dios que nos guía a nuestra recompensa eterna.

Come Holy Spirit, Fill the Hearts of your Faithful!  This Sunday we celebrate the great Solemnity of Pentecost.  This marks the end of the Easter Season and a look toward the love of God poured out to us in the gift of the Holy Spirit.  In the Bible, Pentecost is the moment where the power of the Holy Spirit came to rest on the apostles and inflamed their hearts with gifts of authority and mission.  Go into the whole world and proclaim the saving power of Jesus Christ.  With this power of God in their lives, the church was born and God mission of salvation begins.

Call on the power of the Holy Spirit in your lives.  With courage, live the mission of Jesus Christ.  Pray with Jesus.  Proclaim the love of Jesus to others.  In the name of Jesus, go and be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. Pray this prayer daily, Come Holy Spirit! God bless you, Fr. Irwin

¡Ven Espíritu Santo, llena los corazones de tus fieles! Este domingo celebramos la gran Solemnidad de Pentecostés. Esto marca el final del Tiempo Pascual y una mirada hacia el amor de Dios derramado sobre nosotros en el don del Espíritu Santo. En la Biblia, Pentecostés es el momento en el que el poder del Espíritu Santo descansó sobre los apóstoles y llenó sus corazones con dones de autoridad y misión. Mothers are a great blessing to the world.  Today, our country celebrates the gift of Motherhood, and we thank our mothers here at St. Joseph Parish.  Thank you, mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, Godmothers and all who offer this gift of love, protection and guidance to their children. 

During the month of May, we also turn to our blessed Mother, Mary.  She is the Mother of God, Mother of Jesus and Mother of the church.  Our Mother Mary desires to pray for us and to pray with us so we can always see her Son, Jesus.  Her heavenly prayers turn our hearts and minds toward the Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Mary, Mother of God, pray for our us, our families and for our parish. Feliz Día de las Madres

Las madres son una gran bendición para el mundo. Hoy, nuestro país celebra el regalo de la Maternidad y agradecemos a nuestras madres aquí en la Parroquia San José. Gracias madres, abuelas, bisabuelas, madrastras, madrinas y todas las que ofrecen este regalo de amor, protección y guía a sus hijos.

Durante el mes de mayo acudimos también a nuestra Santísima Madre María. Ella es la Madre de Dios, Madre de Jesús y Madre de la iglesia. Nuestra Madre María desea orar por nosotros y orar con nosotros para que podamos ver siempre a su Hijo Jesús. Sus oraciones celestiales vuelven nuestros corazones y mentes hacia el Hijo de Dios, Jesucristo nuestro Señor. María, Madre de Dios, ruega por nosotros, nuestras familias y nuestra parroquia.  P. Let’s congratulate our First Communion Children and their families.  On Saturday we celebrated Our First Communion Masses.  Our children have received the Holy body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus in this Blessed Sacrament.  Pray for them that they follow Jesus all the days for their lives.  Thank you to our Family Faith Formation Director, Itzel Duke and all our catechists who helped prepare our children.  We appreciate your time and talent.  Thank you also to our parents who helped prepare their children for this important day.  Grace and peace be with you all.

We also want to congratulate our Graduates this weekend.  To all our High School and College graduates who are members of St. Joseph Parish, we pray God guide you in this life.  Stay close to Jesus in prayer, in the sacraments and within His Holy Church.  We are proud of you and will always pray for you.

Primera Comunión

Felicitemos a nuestros Niños de Primera Comunión y sus familias. El sábado celebramos Nuestras Misas de Primera Comunión. Nuestros hijos han recibido el Santo cuerpo, sangre, alma y divinidad de Jesús en este Santísimo Sacramento. Oren por ellos para que sigan a Jesús todos los días de sus vidas. Gracias a nuestra Directora de Formación de Fe Familiar, Itzel Duke y a todos nuestros catequistas que ayudaron a preparar a nuestros niños. Apreciamos su tiempo y talento. Gracias también a nuestros padres que ayudaron a preparar a sus hijos para este día tan importante. Gracia y paz sean con todos vosotros.

También queremos felicitar a nuestros Graduados este fin de semana. A todos nuestros graduados de la escuela secundaria y universitaria que son miembros de la parroquia San José, oramos para que Dios los guíe en esta vida. Let's congratulate our students at St. Joseph Parish who received the sacrament of Confirmation this last Thursday.  The sacrament of Confirmation inflames in the human soul the power of the Holy Spirit given to us at our Baptism.  The Holy Spirit instills in us the beautiful gift of faith and strengthens our will so we can always choose Jesus and His Church.  This is not a sacrament of Graduation from RE classes!  This is a sacrament that gives us the grace to be true Missionary Disciples in the world.  Go Make Disciples of all creatures!  Go, Be Saints in the world.

 Felicitemos a nuestros estudiantes de la Parroquia San José que recibieron el sacramento de la Confirmación este último jueves. El sacramento de la Confirmación intensifica en el alma humana el poder del Espíritu Santo que nos fue dado en nuestro Bautismo. El Espíritu Santo nos infunde el hermoso don de la fe y fortalece nuestra voluntad para que siempre podamos elegir a Jesús y Su Iglesia. ¡Este no es un sacramento de graduación de las clases de educación física! Este es un sacramento que nos da la gracia de ser verdaderos Discípulos Misioneros en el mundo. ¡Vayan a hacer discípulos de todas las criaturas! Vayan, sean santos en el mundo.

This week many of our young people in the parish will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from Archbishop Coakley.  The Sacrament of Confirmation gives each person a particular grace to live, defend and proclaim the faith God has given us in our baptism.  We are called to be witnesses of the Cross of Jesus.  Confirmation is not a graduation or the end of our formation as Catholics.  The Sacrament of Confirmation is really the beginning of our true call, to be Missionary Disciples.  Each person who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation has also been sent by Jesus into the world to say, “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life”.  Proclaim the love of Jesus to the world.

Pray for our children who will receive this Sacrament of Confirmation, who will receive and great outpouring of the Holy Spirit and called by God to be witnesses of the Gospel.  We congratulate them and we pray they, and all of us, will know, love and follow Jesus always.

El Sacramento de la Confirmación

Esta semana muchos de nuestros jóvenes de la parroquia recibirán el Sacramento de la Confirmación del Arzobispo Coakley. El Sacramento de la Confirmación otorga a cada persona una gracia particular para vivir, defender y proclamar la fe que Dios nos ha dado en nuestro bautismo. Estamos llamados a ser testigos de la Cruz de Jesús. La Confirmación no es una graduación ni el fin de nuestra formación como católicos. El Sacramento de la Confirmación es realmente el comienzo de nuestro verdadero llamado a ser Discípulos Misioneros. Cada persona que ha recibido el Sacramento de la Confirmación también ha sido enviada por Jesús al mundo para decir: “Jesús es el camino, la verdad y la vida”. Proclama el amor de Jesús al mundo.

Oren por nuestros hijos que recibirán este Sacramento de la Confirmación, que vivirán un gran derramamiento del Espíritu Santo y serán llamados por Dios a ser testigos del Evangelio. Los felicitamos y oramos para que ellos, y todos nosotros, conozcamos, amemos y sigamos a Jesús siempre. P. Irwin

Following Divine Mercy Sunday and our lessons on trusting Jesus, we ask the Lord to bless our parish with an increase in Trust in Jesus.  Jesus, increase our willingness to rely on you.  Help us to pray more.  Give us the courage to spend time in adoration with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. 

Lord, help us to turn to Mary your mother and pray the rosary as a family.  Lord, help me to trust that all my tests, papers and work I must accomplish in these weeks will happen in cooperation with your grace and strength.  Lord, forgive our sins, heal our loved ones, bless the souls of those who have died, help us to know and live out our vocations in the church, and know that we thank you Lord who has blessed us abundantly.  Jesus, we trust in you.

Después del Domingo de la Divina Misericordia y nuestras lecciones sobre cómo confiar en Jesús, le pedimos al Señor que bendiga nuestra parroquia con un aumento en la Confianza en Jesús. As we finish the great Octave of Easter, we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday.  Pope Francis encourages us to be Witnesses of Divine Mercy.  He says, "Let us be renewed by the peace, forgiveness, and wounds of the merciful Jesus. Let us ask for the grace to become witnesses of mercy. Only in this way will our faith be alive and our lives unified. Only in this way will we proclaim the Gospel of God, which is the Gospel of mercy.”

Please join us this Sunday at 3pm in the Church for a Divine Mercy Holy Hour.  Adoration, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Rosary, Confessions will be available and prayers to the Merciful heart of Jesus our Lord.

Domingo de la Divina Misericordia

 Al finalizar la gran Octava de Pascua, celebramos el Domingo de la Divina Misericordia. El Papa Francisco nos anima a ser Testigos de la Divina Misericordia. Dice: "Seamos renovados por la paz, el perdón y las llagas de Jesús misericordioso. Pidamos la gracia de convertirnos en testigos de la misericordia. Sólo así nuestra fe estará viva y nuestra vida unificada. Sólo así proclamaremos el Evangelio de Dios, que es el Evangelio de la misericordia”.

Únase a nosotros este domingo a las 3 p.m. en la Iglesia para una Hora Santa de la Divina Misericordia. Estarán disponibles Adoración, Coronilla a la Divina Misericordia, Rosario, Confesiones y oraciones al Corazón Misericordioso de Jesús nuestro Señor.

Once again, we give thanks and praise to God for the grace of His saving action on the Cross, His sacrifice for the salvation of the world, and for the Joy of the Resurrection. Praise be Jesus Christ, Now and Forever!

I join Fr. Lawrence, and the entire St. Joseph Parish Staff, in wishing everyone a Happy and Blessed Easter Season. May the Lord bless your families as you gather to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus. Our faith is such a gift. Jesus invites us into joy. He invites us into the beauty of the Liturgical Celebrations of Easter. Jesus invites us into a great act of trust. May the Easter Celebrations help you all to fully trust Jesus.

Una vez más damos gracias y alabamos a Dios por la gracia de su acción salvadora en la Cruz, su sacrificio por la salvación del mundo y por el gozo de la Resurrección. ¡Alabado sea Jesucristo, ahora y siempre!

Palm Sunday always begins this Holy Week where we travel to Calvary to unite our lives to the Cross of Jesus. Our Holy Father speaks on this for our reflections as we being this Holiest of Weeks. “Adoring the cross, we will relive the journey of the innocent Lamb sacrificed for our salvation. We will carry in our minds and hearts the sufferings of the sick, the poor, the rejected of this world; we will remember the “sacrificed lambs,” the innocent victims of wars, dictatorships, everyday violence, abortions… Before the image of the crucified God, we will bring, in prayer, the many, the too many who are crucified in our time, who can receive comfort and meaning in their suffering only from Him. And nowadays there are many: do not forget the crucified of our time, who are the image of Jesus Crucified, and Jesus is in them.”

El Domingo de Ramos siempre inicia esta Semana Santa donde viajamos al Calvario para unir nuestras vidas a la Cruz de Jesús. Nuestro Santo Padre habla sobre esto para nuestras reflexiones al ser esta Semana Santa. “Adorando la cruz reviviremos el camino del Cordero inocente sacrificado por nuestra salvación. Llevaremos en nuestra mente y en nuestro corazón los sufrimientos de los enfermos, de los pobres, de los rechazados de este mundo; recordaremos a los “corderos sacrificados”, a las víctimas inocentes de las guerras, las dictaduras, la violencia cotidiana, los abortos… Ante la imagen del Dios crucificado, llevaremos, en oración, a los muchos, los demasiados crucificados en nuestro tiempo, que sólo de Él pueden recibir consuelo y significado en su sufrimiento. Y hoy en día son muchos: no os olvidéis de los crucificados de nuestro tiempo, que son imagen de Jesús Crucificado, y Jesús está en ellos”.

What keeps us from offering our money to God and the Church?  Lent calls us to prayer, fasting and almsgiving.  Let’s talk a little about Almsgiving.  From the Cross of Jesus, He asks His Father to forgive us.  The Lord is always generous with His mercy.  The generosity of the Lord helps us to respond to God with faith and trust.  The reason we give to God and His Church is to help us increase our trust. 

When we make a sacrificial offering to the Lord, we entrust our lives to the God who made us and sustains us in this life.  I give to God so I can live with God, so I can trust God, so that God will pour out his grace. 

The Parish needs your contribution.  But more importantly, each of us needs to make an offering for the good of our soul.  Jesus, we trust in you. Fr. Irwin

 ¿Qué nos impide ofrecer nuestro dinero a Dios y a la Iglesia? La Cuaresma nos llama a la oración, el ayuno y la limosna. Hablemos un poco sobre la limosna. Desde la Cruz de Jesús, Él pide a su Padre que nos perdone. El Señor es siempre generoso con su misericordia. La generosidad del Señor nos ayuda a responder a Dios con fe y confianza. La razón que le damos a Dios y Su Iglesia es para ayudarnos a aumentar nuestra confianza.

Cuando hacemos una ofrenda de sacrificio al Señor, confiamos nuestras vidas al Dios que nos hizo y nos sostiene en esta vida. Le doy a Dios para poder vivir con Dios, para poder confiar en Dios, para que Dios derrame su gracia.

La Parroquia necesita de su contribución. Pero lo más importante es que cada uno de nosotros debe hacer una ofrenda por el bien de nuestra alma. Jesús, confiamos en ti.

When we get to the halfway point of Lent, it may be time to re-commit ourselves to prayer, fasting and almsgiving.  It is easy to give up on the discipline of Lent. 

God desires our heart, but we attach our heart to other things in the world.  We get stuck in the reality of sin.  We find consolation in other gods.  The one true God is inviting us, "turn to me with your whole heart and I will give you healing, rest and salvation".  It's never too late to start again during Lent. Trust in Jesus.

Perseverancia Cuaresmal

 Cuando lleguemos a la mitad de la Cuaresma, puede que sea el momento de volver a comprometernos con la oración, el ayuno y la limosna. Es fácil renunciar a la disciplina de la Cuaresma.

Dios desea nuestro corazón, pero unimos nuestro corazón a otras cosas en el mundo. Nos quedamos atrapados en la realidad del pecado. Encontramos consuelo en otros dioses. El único Dios verdadero nos está invitando: "vuélvete a mí con todo tu corazón y yo te daré curación, descanso y salvación". Nunca es demasiado tarde para empezar de nuevo durante la Cuaresma. Confía en Jesús.

The 40 days of fasting, prayer and almsgiving calls for strong discipline.  Sometimes we hear it called "the discipline of Lent", referring to the daily keeping of our observances, prayers and demands.  God is good, but he knows that we sometimes lack the desire to fully serve him.  The devil wants us to Give Up!  Our discipline and commitment to God and His Church teaches us clearly; don't give up, run the race and keep the faith, trust fully in Jesus.  God bless you all!

Mantenga el ayuno, persevere en la oración, confíe completamente en Dios

 Los 40 días de ayuno, oración y limosna exigen una fuerte disciplina. A veces escuchamos que la llaman "la disciplina de la Cuaresma", refiriéndose al cumplimiento diario de nuestras observancias, oraciones y exigencias. Dios es bueno, pero sabe que a veces nos falta el deseo de servirle plenamente. ¡El diablo quiere que nos rindamos! Nuestra disciplina y compromiso con Dios y Su Iglesia nos enseña claramente; no te rindas, corre la carrera y mantén la fe, confía plenamente en Jesús.

Lent is not a time of just penance.  It is also a time of contemplation on God's merciful love. God desires to free our hearts from the struggle of sin.  Sin wants to bind our hearts and deceive our minds.  But God's mercy frees our hearts and shows us the truth of Jesus. The beauty of Lent is freedom and living in the merciful heart of Jesus. Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving. This is the simple and powerful way to fully know the mercy of God. Comienza la Cuaresma

 La Cuaresma no es un tiempo solo de penitencia. Es también un tiempo de contemplación del amor misericordioso de Dios. Dios desea liberar nuestros corazones de la lucha del pecado. El pecado quiere atar nuestros corazones y engañar nuestras mentes. Pero la misericordia de Dios libera nuestros corazones y nos muestra la verdad de Jesús. La belleza de la Cuaresma es la libertad y vivir en el corazón misericordioso de Jesús. Oración, ayuno y limosna. Esta es la manera sencilla y poderosa de conocer plenamente la misericordia de Dios.
