Dear St. Joseph Parish, I hope this letter finds you in a generous mood.  This weekend we formally begin the process of asking for financial support for the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).  This is an important part of our annual work as Catholics in the Archdiocese.  We are called to provide for the needs of our local parish, but also for the needs of our local Church.  The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City provides many opportunities for people around the Archdiocese to grow as Disciples of Jesus.  Some examples of this are paying for Seminarian Education.  These are the men who will be our future priests.  This money goes to helping young people attend Our Lady of Guadalupe Summer Camp.  This money keeps all annulments in the Archdiocese free of charge.  Finally, our daily employees at the Archdiocese, who work daily to serve our people, will be able to accomplish this work well.

Colecta Católica Anual

 Querida parroquia de San José: Espero que esta carta lo encuentre abierto a la generosidad. Este fin de semana iniciamos formalmente el proceso de solicitud de apoyo financiero para la Campaña Católica Anual (ACA). Esta es una parte importante de nuestro trabajo anual como católicos en la Arquidiócesis. Estamos llamados a satisfacer las necesidades de nuestra parroquia, pero también las necesidades de nuestra Iglesia local. La Arquidiócesis de Oklahoma City ofrece muchas oportunidades para que las personas de su Arquidiócesis crezcan como Discípulos de Jesús. Algunos ejemplos de esto son el pago de la educación de los seminaristas. Estos son los hombres que serán nuestros futuros sacerdotes. This week we have celebrated the gift of Catholic education in our Archdiocese.  I want to take a moment to thank the staff and teachers of All Saints Catholic School in Norman.  The gift of Catholic education is something special in our country.  Normally, Catholic schools bring forth well educated and well formed adults.  These children become not only great leaders in our communities, but also in our churches.  Doctors, lawyers, servants of the people, priests, religious, catechists and missionary disciples who give their lives to serve God and neighbor.  This is all the product of good Catholic education. I ask you today to be a prayerful and financial supporter of All Saints Catholic School and all our schools in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.  This is an investment worth every minute and penny of our lives.  God bless you all!

 Esta semana hemos celebrado el regalo de la educación católica en nuestra Arquidiócesis. Quiero tomarme un momento para agradecer al personal y a los maestros de la Escuela Católica Todos los Santos en Norman. El don de la educación católica es algo especial en nuestro país. Normalmente, las escuelas católicas forman adultos bien educados y bien formados. Estos niños se convierten no sólo en grandes líderes en nuestras comunidades, sino también en nuestras iglesias. Médicos, abogados, servidores del pueblo, sacerdotes, religiosos, catequistas y discípulos misioneros que entregan su vida al servicio de Dios y del prójimo. Todo esto es producto de una buena educación católica. Les pido hoy que apoyen en oración y financieramente a All Saints Catholic School y a todas nuestras escuelas en la Arquidiócesis de Oklahoma City. Let’s pray the Rosary.  Let’s turn to Mary.  Let’s ask Mary to help us know and serve Jesus better.  Jesus, we trust in you.  St. Mary, our Mother, pray for us.

Recemos el Rosario. Volvamos a María. Pidamos a María que nos ayude a conocer y servir mejor a Jesús. Jesús, confiamos en ti. Santa María, Madre nuestra, ruega por nosotros.

In our world today, we read about and witness atrocities of all kinds.  From the reality of war, the ongoing evil of abortion, discrimination of every kind and the breakdown of the family; clearly the throwaway culture is alive and well.  We are lost in a world of sin, woundedness and hatred.  But it is not hopeless.  With Jesus there is always a reason for our hope.  St. John Paul II said once, “The Church counters the culture of death with culture of love”.  Our prayer this week, and every day, is for a great rise in a culture of life and love.  We must promote and proclaim the Gospel of Life.  St. John Paul II goes on to say, “The Gospel of Life is at the heart of Jesus’ message. Lovingly received day after day by the Church, it is to be preached with dauntless fidelity as “good news” to the people of every age and culture.” (Evangelium Vitae)

We pray this week that we will participate in the proclamation of a culture of life and love.  This means rejecting evil and the false teachings of our current modern culture.  We are never called to create our own narratives, but to proclaim the narrative of Jesus Christ.  Proclaim the narrative of the Gospel of Life that says, you have been created out of love.  You are never a mistake; you are an image of the Father’s love.  You are God’s children now.  Jesus have come to us so that we might have life and have it abundantly.  Jesus, we trust in you.

Construyamos una Cultura de la Vida

 En nuestro mundo actual, leemos y somos testigos de atrocidades de todo tipo. De la realidad de la guerra, el mal constante del aborto, la discriminación de todo tipo y la ruptura de la familia; Está claro que la cultura del descarte está viva. Estamos perdidos en un mundo de pecado, heridas y odio. Pero no es inútil. Con Jesús siempre hay un motivo para nuestra esperanza. San Juan Pablo II dijo una vez: “La Iglesia contrarresta la cultura de la muerte por la cultura del amor”. Nuestra oración esta semana, y todos los días, es por un gran ascenso en una cultura de vida y amor. Debemos promover y proclamar el Evangelio de la Vida. San Juan Pablo II continúa diciendo: “El Evangelio de la vida está en el centro del mensaje de Jesús. Recibido amorosamente día tras día por la Iglesia, debe ser predicado con intrépida fidelidad como “buena nueva” a los pueblos de todas las épocas y culturas”. (Evangelium vitae)

Oramos esta semana para que participemos en la proclamación de una cultura de vida y amor. Esto significa rechazar el mal y las falsas enseñanzas de nuestra cultura moderna actual. Nunca estamos llamados a crear nuestras propias narrativas, sino a proclamar la narrativa de Jesucristo. Proclamad la narrativa del Evangelio de la Vida que dice: habéis sido creados por amor. Nunca eres un error; sois imagen del amor del Padre. Ustedes son hijos de Dios ahora. Jesús ha venido a nosotros para que tengamos vida y la tengamos en abundancia. Jesús, confiamos en ti.

This week we remember Martin Luther King Jr. and the message of freedom he proclaimed in the United States and throughout the world. 

Freedom is such a delicate gift from God.  For us as Catholics, we know that freedom comes ultimately from our faith in Jesus.  The Grace of God sets us free from the power of sin.  Jesus came so that we might have life, and have it abundantly.  When we know the love of God, when we trust in Jesus, our Lord and when we proclaim the truth of Jesus and His Gospel, then we will be free. 

May the Divine Love and Mercy of God bring an end to all hatred, violence, and war in our world.  Jesus, have Mercy on us.  Jesus, we trust in you.

Esta semana recordamos a Martin Luther King Jr. y el mensaje de libertad que él proclamó en los Estados Unidos y alrededor del mundo.

La Libertad es un regalo tan delicado de Dios. Para nosotros, como católicos, sabemos que la libertad proviene en última instancia de nuestra fe en Jesús. La Gracia de Dios nos libera del poder del pecado. Jesús vino para que tengamos vida y la tengamos en abundancia. Cuando conocemos el amor de Dios, cuando confiamos en Jesús, nuestro Señor y cuando proclamamos la verdad de Jesús y Su Evangelio, entonces seremos libres.

Que el Divino Amor y la Misericordia de Dios pongan fin a todo odio, violencia y guerra en nuestro mundo. Jesús, ten piedad de nosotros. Jesús, confiamos en ti. Padre Irwin

The New Evangelization is not something new.  We aren’t inventing something, we are renewing our love and ardor for our Catholic faith.  How can we begin to make this a reality?  Try three things. 

Invitation: Don’t be afraid to invite someone to Mass with you.  Invite someone back to Mass who has been gone.  Invite someone to pray with you.  Invitation is a powerful form of Evangelization.

Welcome: At Mass on Sundays and at other church events, welcome people to St. Joseph Parish.  A Catholic Parish that is known for welcoming people will attract many others to come and see what is happening.  Why are people going to St. Joseph Parish?  Because we welcome people and love them out of the love we have received from Jesus Christ.

Proclaim: We need to proclaim the name of Jesus.  A Catholic parish must have Jesus as the center and most important person in their lives.  We do not proclaim anything but Jesus Christ Crucified who came to save our souls.  Jesus came to set us free from sin and the woundedness of our lives.  Jesus is here to forgive us, love us and make us whole.  Proclaim Jesus!

Invitación - Bienvenida -  Proclamación

 La Nueva Evangelización no es algo nuevo. No estamos inventando algo, estamos renovando nuestro amor y ardor por nuestra fe católica. ¿Cómo podemos empezar a hacer esto realidad? Prueba tres cosas.

Invitación: No tengas miedo de invitar a alguien a Misa contigo. Invite a alguien que ya no vaya a Misa a regresar. Invita a alguien a orar contigo. La invitación es una forma poderosa de evangelización.

Bienvenida: En la Misa de los domingos y en otros eventos de la iglesia, dá la bienvenida a la gente a la Parroquia de San José. Una parroquia católica que es conocida por dar la bienvenida a la gente atraerá a muchos otros para que vengan y vean lo que está sucediendo. ¿Por qué la gente va a la parroquia de San José? Porque acogemos a las personas y las amamos por el amor que hemos recibido de Jesucristo.

Proclamar: Necesitamos proclamar el nombre de Jesús. Una parroquia católica debe tener a Jesús como el centro y la persona más importante en sus vidas. No proclamamos nada más que a Jesucristo Crucificado que vino a salvar nuestras almas. Jesús vino para liberarnos del pecado y de las heridas de nuestras vidas. Jesús está aquí para perdonarnos, amarnos y sanarnos. ¡Proclamad a Jesús!

It is always a joy to wish you all a Happy New Year and to thank you for the wonderful support you offer St. Joseph Parish.  This is your parish family and without your financial support, without the many who volunteer their time and talents, without the many liturgical ministers, catechists, and servants of our parish, we would not exist.  We would not be able to serve God.  Thank you.

Feliz Año Nuevo y Santísima Solemnidad de María, Madre de Dios

 Siempre es un placer desearles a todos un Feliz Año Nuevo y agradecerles por el maravilloso apoyo que ofrecen a la Parroquia San José. Esta es su familia parroquial y sin su apoyo financiero, sin los muchos que ofrecen su tiempo y talentos como voluntarios, sin los muchos ministros litúrgicos, catequistas y servidores de nuestra parroquia, no existiríamos. No podríamos servir a Dios. Gracias.

Por favor considere un aumento en su ofrenda semanal y mensual a las finanzas, ministerios y esfuerzos de nuestra parroquia para hacer Discípulos Misioneros en la Parroquia San José. For many years my family has gathered at the OKC Lyric theatre to watch the Christmas Story.  Ebenezer Scrooge, and the three Ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, take us on a tale of conversion, faith and generosity. 

The famous line of the story from the character Tiny Tim, “God bless us, everyone”, helps us call to mind the purpose of this Religious season.  Jesus is born, Jesus is always with us, Jesus is calling us to a Holy Life.  Turn your hearts, minds and souls to the love of Jesus from the manger in Bethlehem.  In the story of Jesus’ birth, many people come looking for Him.  Go and find Jesus.  He is not hiding.  He is here at the Holy Mass, in the tabernacle, in Adoration, in our hearts, minds and souls.  Jesus is waiting for you. 

Glory to God is the Highest, and on earth, peace to people of goodwill!  Merry Christmas to all families who gather this weekend.  We welcome you to St. Joseph Parish and we give thanks to God for the gift of this beautiful Parish Family.  From Fr. Feliz Navidad; Dios nos Bendiga a Todos

 Durante muchos años, mi familia se ha reunido en el teatro OKC Lyric para ver Christmas Story. Ebenezer Scrooge y los tres fantasmas de la Navidad, pasado, presente y futuro nos llevan a una historia de conversión, fe y generosidad.

La famosa frase de la historia del personaje Tiny Tim, “Dios nos bendiga a todos”, nos ayuda a recordar el propósito de esta temporada religiosa. Jesús nace, Jesús está siempre con nosotros, Jesús nos está llamando a una Vida Santa. Volved vuestros corazones, mentes y almas al amor de Jesús desde el pesebre de Belén. En la historia del nacimiento de Jesús, muchas personas vienen a buscarlo. Ve y encuentra a Jesús. Él no se esconde. Él está aquí en la Santa Misa, en el sagrario, en la Adoración, en nuestros corazones, mentes y almas. Jesús te está esperando.

¡Gloria a Dios al Altísimo, y en la tierra, paz a los hombres de buena voluntad! Feliz Navidad a todas las familias que se reúnen este fin de semana. Les damos la bienvenida a la Parroquia San José y damos gracias a Dios por el regalo de esta hermosa Familia Parroquial. The third Sunday of Advent is traditionally called Gaudete Sunday, a word meaning Joyful. 

We rejoice as we wait patiently for the coming of Jesus.  We give thanks for the infinite blessings Jesus has offered to our lives.  We seek the face of Jesus in our worship and our daily prayers.  We pray that Jesu will pour out His Mercy upon the world. 

Jesus, bring us peace.  Jesus, show us the way to the eternal Father.  This Sunday, take time to pray with Jesus in Adoration.  Come and Adore Him.  Let us give joyful praise to Jesus Christ, our Lord, our Savior, our King.

El tercer domingo de Adviento se llama tradicionalmente Domingo Gaudete, palabra que significa Gozo / Gozoso.

Nos regocijamos mientras esperamos pacientemente la venida de Jesús. Damos gracias por las infinitas bendiciones que Jesús ha ofrecido a nuestras vidas. Buscamos el rostro de Jesús en nuestra adoración y nuestras oraciones diarias. Oramos para que Jesús derrame Su Misericordia sobre el mundo.

Jesús, tráenos la paz. Jesús, muéstranos el camino al Padre eterno. Este domingo, tómate un tiempo para orar con Jesús en Adoración. Vengan y adórenlo. Demos alabanza gozosa a Jesucristo, nuestro Señor, nuestro Salvador, nuestro Rey.

This week we celebrate the great Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  St. Juan Diego wanted to do the will of God and live his life in service of Jesus.  Our Blessed Mother appeared to St. Juan Diego with a message of prayer and evangelization. 

Go and Proclaim the Love of Jesus.  Go and Proclaim the Gospel the all the nations.  This week we will have a blessed celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Joseph Parish.  We will sing songs to our Blessed Mother beginning at 6am in the Church followed by Hot Chocolate, Coffee and Sweet Breads. 

We will celebrate a Solemn Mass to Our Lady of Guadalupe at 6pm with Fr. Felipe followed by a Fiesta with food, music and fun.  I invite the whole parish to join in this great celebration of faith.

Festividad de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe

 Esta semana celebramos la gran Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. San Juan Diego quería hacer la voluntad de Dios y vivir su vida al servicio de Jesús. Nuestra Santísima Madre se apareció a San Juan Diego con un mensaje de oración y evangelización.

Id y Proclamad el Amor de Jesús. Id y proclamad el Evangelio a todas las naciones. Esta semana tendremos una bendita celebración de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en la Parroquia San José. Cantaremos canciones a nuestra Santísima Madre a partir de las 6 am en la Iglesia seguido de Chocolate Caliente, Café y Panes Dulces.

Celebraremos una Misa Solemne a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe a las 6pm con el Padre Felipe seguido de un encuentro con comida, música y diversión. Invito a toda la parroquia a unirse a esta gran celebración de la fe.

The New Liturgical Year always begins with the Season of Advent.  We prepare for Christmas in prayer, not online buying stuff.  Yes, we have to prepare for Christmas morning for our children, but we also must find time to turn to Jesus. 

Prepare the Way for the Birth of Jesus!  Prepare the Way for the Lord in your hearts!  There are many wonderful family devotions to experience during the Advent Season.  Maybe its time, as a family, to start Daily Family Prayer.  What time will you pray?  Where in the house will family prayer happen?  How will you pray; rosary, scripture, intentions, chaplet of divine mercy?  This Advent season, begin a regular time of Family Prayer.  Have a blessed Advent Season!

Remember Holy Day of Obligation on December 8, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception!

Primer Domingo de Adviento

 El Nuevo Año Litúrgico comienza siempre con el Tiempo de Adviento. Nos preparamos para la Navidad en oración, no comprando cosas en línea. Sí, tenemos que prepararnos para la mañana de Navidad para nuestros hijos, pero también debemos encontrar tiempo para acudir a Jesús.

¡Preparen el Camino para el Nacimiento de Jesús! ¡Preparen el Camino del Señor en nuestros corazones! Hay muchas devociones familiares maravillosas para experimentar durante la temporada de Adviento. Tal vez sea hora, como familia, de comenzar la Oración Familiar Diaria. ¿A qué hora orarás? ¿En qué parte de la casa se realizará la oración familiar? ¿Cómo orarás? Rezando el rosario, leyendo las escrituras, haciendo intenciones, o rezando la coronilla de la divina misericordia? En este tiempo de Adviento, comience un tiempo regular de oración familiar. ¡Que tengas una bendecida temporada de Adviento!

At the end of Ordinary Time in our liturgical schedule, we always celebrate Christ the King.  The end of the Liturgical Year directs our attention to the importance of Jesus, who is King and Lord, who shows us the path of life and who is with us until the end of the age.  What Spiritual Resolution can we commit ourselves to for this Advent Season and New Liturgical Year?  More time in Adoration and Prayer with Jesus!  Come to Daily Mass more often!  Regular practice of the Sacrament of Confession!  Don’t Miss Sunday Mass!  Welcome someone at Mass that you recognize is new to the parish!  Find a way to serve the parish community!  How will you serve and not be served this coming Advent Season? 

Thank you all for your support of St. Joseph Parish.  I give thanks daily for the gift of this parish and the many people who give of their time, talent and treasure.  Your sacrificial offerings help build the kingdom of God and increase trust in the merciful love of Jesus.

Solemnidad de Cristo Rey

 Al final del Tiempo Ordinario en nuestro horario litúrgico, siempre celebramos a Cristo Rey. El final del Año Litúrgico dirige nuestra atención a la importancia de Jesús, que es Rey y Señor, que nos muestra el camino de la vida y que está con nosotros hasta el fin de los tiempos. ¿A qué resolución espiritual podemos comprometernos para este tiempo de Adviento y nuevo año litúrgico? ¡Más tiempo en Adoración y Oración con Jesús! ¡Ven a Misa Diaria más a menudo! ¡Práctica regularmente del Sacramento de la Confesión! ¡No te pierdas la misa dominical! ¡Dale la bienvenida a la Misa a alguien que reconozcas que es nuevo en la parroquia! ¡Encuentra una manera de servir a la comunidad parroquial! ¿Cómo servirás y no serás servido en la próxima temporada de Adviento?

Let’s first thank all the volunteers and individuals who helped make our 101st Thanksgiving Dinner a great success.  Thank you all who put in the time and talent.  I want to wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday.  This time of the year is special for family, friends and the opportunity to slow down and connect with God in prayer.  This Thursday many will gather and give thanks.  Say thank you to Jesus for the abundance of gifts, graces and blessings.  Join us Thursday for an 8:00am morning mass to begin this great holiday of Thanksgiving.  May you and your families be blessed.

¡Felíz Día de Acción de Gracias!

 Primero, agradezcamos a todos los voluntarios e individuos que ayudaron a que nuestra 101ª Cena de Acción de Gracias fuera un gran éxito. Gracias a todos los que pusieron su tiempo y talento. Quiero desearles a todos unas benditas vacaciones de Acción de Gracias. Esta época del año es especial para la familia, los amigos y la oportunidad de reducir el ritmo y conectarse con Dios en oración. Este jueves muchos se reunirán y darán gracias. Da gracias a Jesús por la abundancia de dones, gracias y bendiciones. Únase a nosotros el jueves para una misa de la mañana a las 8:00 am para comenzar esta gran festividad de Acción de Gracias. Que ustedes y sus familias sean bendecidos.

Here is one way you can increase your giving to our parish.  Many people are paid hourly for their job.  Maybe you receive 15-20 dollars and hour.  Can you give God One Hour each Sunday in the Collection?  If you work 40-50 hours a week, give God one of those hours in the basket.  This is a good way to make our weekly and monthly giving more intentional. Be Generous to our parish!  Be Generous to God!  Make a sacrificial offering to the Lord praying for an increase in Trust in God who is with us and loves us.  Give God An Hour on Sunday!

¡Ofrece a Dios  una hora!

 Aquí esta una manera como puedes incrementar tus ofrendas a nuestra parroquia. Muchas personas reciben su pago en sus trabajos por hora. A lo mejor, tu recibes entre 15-20 dólares cada hora. Puedes dar a Dios una hora cada domingo en la colecta? Si tu trabajas de 40-50 horas a la semana, ofrece a Dios una de esas horas en nuestra canasta. Esta es una buena manera de hacer mas intencionales nuestras ofrendas semanales y mensuales. Sé generoso con nuestra parroquia! Sé generoso con Dios! Has una ofrenda de sacrificio a nuestro Señor rezando por un incremento de tu confianza en Dios quien está con nosotros y nos ama. Ofrece a Dios una hora el Domingo!

When you see the collection basket at Mass on Sunday, do you reject it or do you receive it as an invitation to give to God and our Church? It may seem odd, but the collection, our weekly and monthly offering in that basket, our weekly gift is part of our worship to God.  What happens when we give generously to God and our Parish?

Dona generosamente a nuestra familia parroquial

Cuando tu ves la canasta colectora en la misa los domigos, tu la reachazas o tu la recibes como una invitación para dar a Dios y a nuestra Iglesia? Esto puede parecer extraño, pero la recolección, nuestras ofrendas semanales y mensuales en esa canasta, nuestro regalo semanal es parte de nuestra adoración a Dios. Qué pasa cuando nosotros donamos generosamente a Dios y a nuestra Parroquia?

I want to invite and remind you of the Holy Day Obligation we have this week; All Saints Day.  On November 1st each year the Church calls us to look toward the saints of the Church asking for their prayers.  Their lives inspire us to be saints.  This Solemnity helps us to seek holiness and Divine Communion with God.  It is a great tragedy to not be a saint.  Join us on Wednesday to worship God at the Holy Mass and ask for the intercession of All the Saints of the Church.

On Thursday we celebrate the Feast of All Souls.  This is a day to pray for all our loved ones who have died.  We also pray for All Souls in purgatory.  It is also a day to visit and pray at the local cemetery, visiting the resting places of our loved ones and praying for the souls who await the coming of the Lord in glory.  May God give them eternal rest.  See the bulletin schedule, , website, Facebook and your Flocknote emails for mass schedules on those days.

Solemnidad de Todos los Santos y Fiesta de Todos los Difuntos

 Quiero invitarlos y recordarles la Obligación del Día Santo que tenemos esta semana; Todos los Santos. El 1 de noviembre de cada año la Iglesia nos llama a mirar hacia los santos de la Iglesia pidiendo sus oraciones. Sus vidas nos inspiran a ser santos. Esta Solemnidad nos ayuda a buscar la santidad y la Comunión Divina con Dios. Es una gran tragedia no ser santo. Únase a nosotros el miércoles para adorar a Dios en la Santa Misa y pedir la intercesión de Todos los Santos de la Iglesia.

El jueves celebramos la Fiesta de Todos los Difuntos. Este es un día para orar por todos nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido. También oramos por Todas las Almas del Purgatorio. También es un día para visitar y orar en el cementerio local, visitar los lugares de descanso de nuestros seres queridos y orar por las almas que esperan la venida del Señor en gloria. When we think about the many conflicts, wars and suffering in the world, we need to remind ourselves, Go To Jesus.  Here is what Pope Francis recently said about adoration and prayer with Jesus.

“I would like to ask a question here, but each one should answer it interiorly. How do I pray? Like a parrot — blah blah blah blah blah? Or taking a nap in front of the tabernacle because I don’t know how to talk to the Lord? I pray? How do I pray? Only in adoration, only before the Lord can the taste and passion for evangelization be recovered...Curiously, the prayer of adoration — we have lost it. We have lost it, and everyone — priests, bishops, consecrated men and women, laypeople — have to recover it. It’s to be in silence, before the Lord,”

Let's go to Jesus in adoration this week, every week.  Let Jesus teach you to pray. Enjoy silence and peace. Sit in prayer and be loved by Jesus.

Ve a Jesús en Adoración

 Cuando pensamos en los muchos sufrimientos, guerras y conflictos en el mundo, nosotros necesitamos recordarnos a nosotros mismos, Ve a Jesús. Esto es lo que dijo recientemente el Papa Francisco sobre la adoración y la oración con Jesús.

“Quisiera hacer aquí una pregunta, pero que cada uno la responda interiormente. ¿Cómo rezo? Como un loro, ¿bla, bla, bla, bla, bla? ¿O como tomar una siesta frente al sagrario porque no sé hablar con el Señor? ¿Rezo? ¿Cómo rezo? Sólo en la adoración, sólo ante el Señor se puede recuperar el gusto y la pasión por la evangelización... Curiosamente, la oración de adoración la hemos perdido. Lo hemos perdido y todos –sacerdotes, obispos, consagrados, consagradas, laicos– tenemos que recuperarlo. Es estar en silencio, delante del Señor”.

Vayamos a Jesús en adoración esta semana, todas las semanas. Deja que Jesús te enseñe a orar. Disfruta del silencio y la paz. Siéntate en oración y sé amado por Jesús.

During the month of October, Catholics are encouraged to make the rosary a more ordinary prayer in their lives.  We would pray well if we took the time to pray the rosary every day.  Jesus desires us to draw close to Him in prayer through the prayers of Mary, His mother. 

St. John Paul II says this about the beauty and contemplative nature of the Holy Rosary, "To recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate with Mary the face of Christ. […] The Rosary, precisely because it starts with Mary's own experience, is an exquisitely contemplative prayer. Without this contemplative dimension, it would lose its meaning, as Pope Paul VI clearly pointed out: “Without contemplation, the Rosary is a body without a soul, and its recitation runs the risk of becoming a mechanical repetition of formulas, in violation of the admonition of Christ: 'In praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think they will be heard for their many words' (Mt 6:7). By its nature the recitation of the Rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace, helping the individual to meditate on the mysteries of the Lord's life as seen through the eyes of her who was closest to the Lord.”

Pray the Rosary.  Pray the Rosary as a Family at home.  Make praying the rosary ordinary, normal and important to your life with God.  Fr. Irwin

El Rosario nos ayuda a contemplar el rostro de Jesús

 Durante el mes de octubre, se anima a los católicos a hacer del rosario una oración más común en sus vidas. Oraríamos bien si nos tomáramos el tiempo de rezar el rosario todos los días. Jesús desea que nos acerquemos a Él en oración a través de las oraciones de María, su madre.

San Juan Pablo II dice esto sobre la belleza y el carácter contemplativo del Santo Rosario: “Rezar el Rosario no es otra cosa que contemplar con María el rostro de Cristo. […] El Rosario, precisamente porque parte de la propia experiencia de María, es una oración exquisitamente contemplativa. Sin esta dimensión contemplativa perdería su significado, como bien señaló el Papa Pablo VI: “Sin contemplación, el Rosario es un cuerpo sin alma, y su rezo corre el riesgo de convertirse en una repetición mecánica”. de fórmulas, en violación de la amonestación de Cristo: "Al orar, no amontonéis frases vacías, como hacen los gentiles, que piensan que serán oídos por sus muchas palabras" (Mt 6,7).  Por su naturaleza, la recitación del Rosario exige un ritmo tranquilo y un ritmo prolongado, que ayude al individuo a meditar en los misterios de la vida del Señor vistos a través de los ojos de Aquella que estaba más cerca del Señor”. When someone new comes to our parish, sits down in the pews and desires to experience God, do we notice them?  One of the leading reasons that people leave the Catholic faith is because they did not feel welcome. 

People want to be noticed.  We have a natural desire to feel like we belong.  I want to thank all our regular Ushers/Ministers of Hospitality.  Every Sunday we have people at our doors welcoming parishioners, helping people find a seat, helping explain small parts of the Catholic Mass and showing the love of Christ.  Thank you to those men and women of our parish that welcome us to Mass. 

I want to encourage you, each Sunday, to find the new person at Church and welcome them.  Find a person you have never met and introduce yourself.  Don’t just rush out of the Church after mass, take a minute to stop, visit, welcome and look to your right and your left.  God bless you all!

Mira a tu derecha y a tu izquierda

 Cuando alguien nuevo llega a nuestra parroquia, se sienta en los bancos y desea experimentar a Dios, ¿lo notamos? Una de las principales razones por las que las personas abandonan la fe católica es porque no se sienten bienvenidas.

La gente quiere hacerse notar. Tenemos un deseo natural de sentir que pertenecemos. Quiero agradecer a todos nuestros Ujieres/Ministros de Hospitalidad habituales. Todos los domingos tenemos personas en nuestras puertas dando la bienvenida a los feligreses, ayudándolos a encontrar un asiento, ayudando a explicar pequeñas partes de la Misa católica y mostrando el amor de Cristo. Gracias a esos hombres y mujeres de nuestra parroquia que nos dan la bienvenida a Misa.

Quiero animarte, cada domingo, a encontrar a la nueva persona en la Iglesia y darle la bienvenida. Encuentra una persona que nunca hayas conocido y preséntate. No salgas corriendo de la Iglesia después de la misa, tómate un minuto para detenerte, visitar, dar la bienvenida y mirar a tu derecha y a tu izquierda. ¡Dios los bendiga a todos!

In the Rule of St. Benedict, chapter 53, it also says this, "After the guests have been received, they should be invited to pray; then the superior or an appointed brother will sit with them. The divine law is read to the guest for his instruction, and after that every kindness is shown to him." 

How often have you invited someone to pray with you?  Also, when you see a new member of the parish, do you ask them if they need any help?  Do you tell them about our Adoration chapel?  Do you invite them to the Knights Sunday Breakfast?  Do you show "every kindness" to this person or family? 

The Lord is calling us to an attitude of welcome for these members of our parish family.  Show them love, kindness and the face of Jesus.

Bienvenida a los invitados

 En la Regla de San Benito, capítulo 53, también dice lo siguiente: "Después de recibir a los invitados, se les invitará a orar; luego el superior o un hermano designado se sentará con ellos. Se lee la ley divina al huésped para su instrucción, y después de esto se le muestra toda bondad".

¿Con qué frecuencia has invitado a alguien a orar contigo? Además, cuando ves a un nuevo miembro de la parroquia, ¿le preguntas si necesita ayuda? ¿Les cuentas sobre nuestra capilla de Adoración? ¿Los invitas al desayuno dominical de los Caballeros? ¿Muestra "toda amabilidad" hacia esta persona o familia?

El Señor nos está llamando a una actitud de acogida para estos miembros de nuestra familia parroquial. Muéstrales amor, bondad y el rostro de Jesús.
